iPhone 6 Explodes Out Of The Blue – First Such Incident in Malaysia

The last incident an Apple device was involved is related to an iPhone 6 which, most likely, suffered a short circuit and exploded in its owner’s pants pocket. This happened recently, in Malaysia, during a night walk in the park.

The owner, named Muhammad Asyraf Daud, was walking in Jonker Walk in Malacca, a state from Malaysia, at around 11PM, when he suddenly heard the sound of an explosion and he felt hot in his pocket, realizing that something happened to his iPhone 6. Immediately, he took the phone out of his pocket and threw it away, while it was on fire and with smoke coming from it. The next day after the incident, Asyraf went to Mac City, the local Apple reseller, where he was old that the company will investigate the causes of the explosion and that if they won’t find a real problem, they won’t replace the iPhone 6 with a new one. The owner was shocked when he was asked if he modified the flagship, after buying it back in February 2015, because he never touched the software or anything else inside the phone. The good news is that the man escaped the incident with minor injuries.

The iPhone 6 came with an increase in size, jumping from a screen of 4-inch to 4.7-inch, which supports now a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels with 326 ppi. Its back has two thin lines at the top and bottom, instead of wide bands of a different color, and inside, it features an A8 chipset which is powered by a dual-core 1.4 GHz Typhoon (ARM v8-based) and it supports only 1GB of RAM. The resolutions of its cameras are the same as on the previous 5S: 8MP on the front, with phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and HDR, while the front camera supports 1.2MP.

Nokia C1 Release With Windows 10 and Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Images of the Nokia C1 shows that the company’s new product will come in two versions: Windows 10 and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Earlier this year, Nokia, the Finnish company that was once the absolute leader in the market of mobile phones, has confirmed that they will return to the smartphone market at the end of 2016. Note that due to contractual obligations from businesses with Microsoft, Nokia must wait until 2016 for the launch of new mobile devices.

Now Nokia C1 appeared after some leaked images on the Internet. All information and rumors have suggested that the phone will use a variation of the Android operating system and will run the Z Launcher app from Nokia. The new information shows that the smartphone will come in a version that will be powered by Windows 10. This means that there will be two versions of the phone with two operating systems.

In addition, an image from September shows the camera placed on the center of the back cover, while the last image shows the camera placed in the top left corner. Nokia C1 will be available in several colors: white, gold, pink and gray.

According to the leaks, Nokia C1 could be equipped with 5-inch FHD display, an 8 megapixel camera on the back (or a 13MP one) and 5 megapixel front camera. Also, it appears that will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Earlier reports suggested that Nokia C1 will have an Intel processor and 2GB of RAM.

Until we have more information from Nokia on its future smartphone, these rumors should be treated as such.

Li-Fi Beats Wi-Fi – The Technology That Lights up the Internet

The inventor of the light bulb could of hardly imagined that in one day, it will be used not only for lighting homes worldwide, but also for data transfer that will allow people to download information from satellites in space directly in their portable devices. The light bulbs in a house will have a double role with the introduction of Li-Fi technology, a form of data transmission at speeds 100 times higher than Wi-Fi.

Li-Fi technology was invented in 2011 by Harold Haas, a researcher at the University of Edinburgh in laboratory experiments. It uses visible light communication (VLC) to transmit data at high speeds. Put simply, the system resembles a lamp blink so that their message is translated into binary code (0 and 1).

Laboratory experiments were able to achieve data transmission speeds of 224 GB per second. That would be the size of 18 films per second downloading from the Internet. As a comparison, in theory, Wi-Fi technology is capable of speeds 600 MB per second (1,000 MB = 1 GB).

The technology has been tested in the real life conditions with a company called Velmenni from Estonia, which implemented the system in its offices and other locations in its capital, Tallinn. In these environments, they managed to obtain a connection speed of 1 GB per second.

Beyond superior speed, Li-Fi technology has a number of benefits related to network security – the signal is transmitted via light waves that do not penetrate the walls of a room, but also has drawbacks, such as the user is stuck in that room. The company is currently working on finding solutions to allow for Li-Fi signal transmission on a wider range of frequencies.

It is estimated that LED bulbs already used in houses could be readily converted into Li-Fi transmitters by attaching a microchip, which would provide a dual function: issuing light and transmitting data. The speed at which these pulsating LED are operating is much too high to be perceived by the human eye, so not a problem there. It remains to be seen how much longer it will take to successfully implement the technology on a large-scale. Visible light communication (VLC) technology is already used for other purposes, such as creating high-tech toys. For example, Disney has used this technology to build a “magic wand” that can light up the LEDs on a princess dress.
